im deciding on how to go at this.

Option 1.) 2 128GB SSD RAID0 (boot) + 2 600GB Velociraptor RAID1 (Storage)

Option 2.)1 512GB SSD (boot & storage)

Option 3.)2 128GB SSD's RAID0 (boot) + 1 256GB SSD (storage)

Option 4: 5 128GB SSd's in raid 5

If you have a better setup let me know.I prefer to use the new Vertex 4 SSD's.

I already own a 60GB vertex 3 SSD and a 500GB Caviar green HDD, if you can find something to do with those too.

My suggestion for storage, unless you plan to use it for games and aps, is to get another Caviar Green if you can find one cheap...

Also when it comes to the SSDs if you can drop the money on a 512gb... go for it... You can run Trim on a single drive, always wait and add a second when prices drop, and keep the 500GB green in there for miscellaneous data like movies, music, and photos...

My current setup is...

two OCZ Onyx 64GB SSD in Raid 0 + one 500gb Seagate 7200.11

My new setup will be when I get the time to install them...

Two Crucial M4 128gb ssd in Raid 0 + one 500GB 7200.11

I'm thinking of swapping one of the 1TB caviar greens I have in my server, as it has been in pieces for months, instead of the ancient seagate but honestly the Seagate still has 200GB empty and is faster... I had a second full 500gb seagate from my old RAID array in there, but sadly it hit the god knows how long mark and died... Not really too broke up as all ti had was movies I rarely watched... I am pissed I lost all my episodes of Ashes to Ashes and Life on Mars as they will be hard to replace...

You looked into hybrid drives at all? If I was going to setup something new, I would boot off of a small SSD, probably Intel because I love their stuff and their ssd's are quality, and I would get something like this LINK for main storage and my old caviar black TB for bulk storage.

I would assume ocz but wouldn't surprise me if it was being farmed out to someone else. almost looks like a seagate and i know they have their own version of the hybrid drive that is much much cheaper. like $130 for a 600gig.

well i was also thinking that i could get a slower SSD but larger capacity for my storage drive, and use 2 raid 0 128GB ones for my boot drive.
